Not much to report on

Not much to report on the baby front this week. Last week Jennifer had a cold, and this week I have the cold. Nothing but fun.

If you ask nicely, I'll do my impression of Jennifer making Buicks yesterday morning. I'm getting pretty good at it.

We go to the doctor next week for another checkup. Still too early to get a picture (that's 20 weeks) but Mikaele suggested faking cramps or spotting to get a new picture. We saw Tim and Mikaele's latest sonogram, and their unborn child looks like a child. Big and people-y. Our last sonogram looked like a peanut.

Most likely though, it will be another heartbeat check and then back in a month. That's when the fun starts - when we get to know what it is. I think we'll find out, its just such a help logistically. We've been having such trouble with names, that this will help us focus one way or the other.

That said, do you think it'll be a boy or a girl....

Baby update, baby update. Well,

Baby update, baby update. Well, I'm 25 now. Yesterday was my birthday and I celebrated with family and friends and an awful head cold. You don't know how great Nyquil is until you can't have it anymore (cue mike, sing about Nyquil, the giant fucking Q). So I've been miserable for the last five days or so. But...
Mike has been really understanding and helpful, getting me honey for my tea and my pregnancy-legal Sudafed. And baby seems none the worse for wear...though I've yet to feel movement, Cops is approaching the size of a grapefruit and you can see it in my waistline (or lack thereof). Thank God for family who bought me nice presents, like fat clothes, or gift certificates for fat clothes, or things to make me more comfy or things to help me start my baby scrapbook.

Retraction: "Grandma Mary Jane now

Retraction: "Grandma Mary Jane now has the go ahead to start blabbing the news to all" I wrote that a few weeks ago, and Grandma MJ got mad. So...

Sorry, ma, I didn't mean anything bad about it. I know you're as excited as we are to tell everybody. We're just taking things one day at a time, only 190 days or so to go now, and I'm sure that will go by fast.

Hey Grandma MJ....thanks...:)

Its sad to think that

Its sad to think that this child will now grow up in a world that is much different then the one of 24 hours ago. It will only know a world of tight security, fear, and change.

People from around the world have been posting their thoughts on my other website. Click here to read them.

Cops is fine, and everything is going smoothly. Mom and I have been laying around watching CNN the last day, so its been pretty relaxed. We see the doctor again in a few weeks.

Other than that, not too much to report.

Hearing the heartbeat for the

Hearing the heartbeat for the first time was very cool. It was amazing to hear that sound and know you had a hand in creating it. It's weird to be pregnant early on...you feel sick and tired, but you don't look pregnant, and you can't feel baby moving around in there. When you hear the heartbeat you marvel at how much incredible stuff is going on inside your body, even though from the outside you still look largely unchanged.

I will not discuss Mikaele and my crochet experience. This is one better left for the ages...and although our dishrags left a little bit to be desired, it was a fun night out not soon forgotten. If I start on a baby blanket now, I may have it finished in time for high school graduation.

Doctor Appt. #2 was this

Doctor Appt. #2 was this morning. I think we spent more time making fun of people in the lobby then we did in the actual room with the doctor, which is cool with me.

After a weigh-in, in which Jennifer actually lost weight, it was off the see the doctor.

It wasn't our usual doctor, but I guess the practice in this place is to rotate, or at least be seen by whoever's there at the time. Its cool with us, the guy today was pretty cool.

The fun part of today was getting to hear the heartbeat. After a bit of searching, there it was beating at a healthy 150 bpm.

If you believe in old wives' tales, that means its a girl, but we'll see.

Our next appointment is 4 weeks from today, and the one after that hopefully we'll get another picture and get to know what it is in there.

Today Mikaele and I went

Today Mikaele and I went shopping for maternity clothes...it was quite an experience. I bought a few things on sale but not too much...my birthday is coming up so I'm hoping that I will get some presents of fat clothes. My biggest pants are getting tight and for the last few days I could feel my belly stretching...it almost feels like a pulled muscle. So weird, but kind of cool. So it's getting close to time that I switch wardrobes. I'm also excited for Wednesday...our next doctor's appointment and we get to hear the heartbeat. And that's the night Mikaele and I take our crochet class! I'll give you all a full report later in the week!
