3 month pediatrician visit today.

3 month pediatrician visit today. Evan is 8 lbs., 5 ozs., and 21 1/2 inches long. Pretty impressive, huh? The visit went well, Dr. Scully seems impressed with E's progress and was able to answer all of our questions from "When is his belly button going to un-herniate itself?" to "What should we do to keep him happy when it's too hot out?"

The downside was that E-Dog got two shots, one in each cheek, for Hepititis B and DPI. I think. It's hard to remember all of this stuff. At any rate, he was kind of pained by the time we got home, so he got to nurse and have some baby Tylenol before drifting off to dreamland. Hopefully he'll take a nice nap and wake up much happier.

It looks like we're in

It looks like we're in for a quiet weekend. Well, not that quiet, since Evan has taken to having little crying spells in the evening, but you catch my drift. We don't really have anything planned. I'm sure that will change though, if only just to go out for a ride.

Today Jackie, Carly, and Chad came to visit Evan. The kids seemed to like him, but not when he spit up. They each got to hold him and got a picture taken, we'll post those soon. Even though they were only over for a short while, it was a nice break in my day. And I now know that this isn't my house anymore, it's "Baby Evan's".

Right now Mike is using the blizzard noise to try to chill Evan out. I am posting quickly before I have a bath and try to catch a nap before the next feeding. He was up at four this morning and wanted to sit and watch tv, so I'm a little beat. Babies sometimes make the days seem much much longer than they really are.

Yesterday was a monumental day...Evan

Yesterday was a monumental day...Evan smiled for the first time. It was too cute, he smiled at the black and white prints we have above the couch. He's still into the high contrast stuff. Luckily, he did it again this morning before Daddy went to work so Mike got to see it as well.

E just keeps getting cuter and more lively. He is up for the greater portion of the day now, and is sleeping for most of the night. He still loves to be constantly held, which makes it hard to get any house work done, but I guess I don't mind. Soon enough he'll be a big boy and want nothing to do with us anymore.

I guess we need to enjoy this while it lasts. I'm sure we will look back and say that each stage passed far too quickly. For now, I'm going to try to get a shower before Mike gets home. The family is going out tonight!

Happy three month birthday to

Happy three month birthday to Evan! How time flies.....today the last of Evan's nursery furniture is arriving, so I am trying to kick it into high gear and get the crap cleaned out of here. You wouldn't think such a small room could have so much junk in it. But it really does.

It's been a quiet weekend for the most part. E's doing fairly well, aside from a puking incident last night that saw Mommy and baby in the bathtub at 5:30 in the morning. Oh well. I think he's got a bit of a runny nose again, and that's making his tummy upset. All this change in weather from hot to cold can't be good for anyone.

Well, off to make intimate with the vacuum cleaner, while E helps Daddy review yesterday's NFL draft picks.

Well, we didn't end up

Well, we didn't end up meeting with the lactation consultant...there was a baby boom at Hamot I guess and she couldn't pencil me in. We did talk on the phone though, and went over things, and it looks like E was just trying to up production during his three days of nursing frenzy. Things are back to normal now, so that's a relief.

Speaking of Hamot, we stopped down there today to show Evan off to his nurses. They all cooed over him and said how big he was. That's such a nice change from the general population, who all say "he's so tiny!" We promised to visit again in a few months.

After that, we went for a stroll on the peninsula. The three of us had fun, and it was a great way to enjoy the lovely weather. What a nice evening.

Evan doesn't know what to

Evan doesn't know what to make of today's 80 degree weather. All he knows is that he is sleepy and uncomfortable. Poor kid. It's lay around in our diaper time.

Today we got our $1000 shot, and we were not pleased. No Snoopy band-aid could make up for that pain. E is up to 7 lbs., 4 ozs. though, and that is good.

Evan enjoyed his "play date" with Aidan and Logan, although he slept through most of our walk to the playground. I like his stroller, it's a nice smooth ride.

Now, we're off to try to keep cool....

While E-Dog is with Daddy,

While E-Dog is with Daddy, I will update. The past three days have been trying, as E is cranky and wants to nurse all day. And I mean from the time he gets up in the morning until late evening, he will nurse constantly, taking rare 15 minute breaks. If he's not being fed he cries like he is being tortured. Needless to say, I am a little on edge.

I called the lactation consultant at Hamot, and we are meeting with her on Wednesday (again, God bless Hamot, I love those people). In the meantime, I'm keeping a log to find out just how much he's actually nursing. Then we can figure out if he's latching on properly, if I'm producing enough, or if he's just trying to increase my supply. I hope it's #3, because that's not forever. But enough about my boobs.

Other than that, things are okay. I think we're going to have a play date with Logan and Aidan tomorrow. We like the warm weather...windows open, E's chillin in just a onesie, and he looks so cute.

Cousin Linda, this one's for

Cousin Linda, this one's for you.

It's been a pretty quiet week, recovering from baptism, visiting Mike at work, going to my work to clean out my desk and turn in my resignation. Evan has been tagging along and doing well most places.

Other than that it's just the usual eating/sleeping/diaper routine. On that front, I've learned two important things this week. 1) Giving E his suppliment bottle after 10 pm is a guarantee that he will sleep at least a five hour stretch in the night. 2) No breastfeeding woman should ever, EVER, eat sauerkraut, not even a little bit. I will not go into detail here, you can all use your imaginations.

Today we went to the pediatrician to get E-Dog's last Synagis shot to prevent RSV. Now, mind you, this shot was to be given in late March, but due to insurance hassles it just came in today (the shot costs $1000 for one dose. No, I didn't leave my finger on the zero too long, that's $1000).

So we went to get it, and it didn't mix properly so they couldn't administer it, and we ended up waiting there for almost two hours for nothing. Hopefully they will have another dose in sometime next week, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Oh! And he weighs 7 lbs., 2 ozs. now. At least we got something out of the deal.

Evan's baptism was a smash,

Evan's baptism was a smash, and he's now a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Hooray! He was so well behaved, he slept through almost the entire ceremony and didn't make a sound (not even when the priest said "In the name of the Water" instead of "In the name of the Father"). E posed for pictures and was manhandled for most of the day, and still managed to remain in good spirits.

The party was fun too. Thanks to everyone for coming, especially to Alan and Beth for making the trip from Pittsburgh, and Mike's family for coming in from Cleveland and Rochester. Evan was glad his two pals Aidan and Logan could be there. Unfortunately, Granny Mary Jane was sick and had to miss the ceremony, but we took plenty of pictures. We'll post them as soon as we can.

Evan is still coughing, though

Evan is still coughing, though it seems to be getting a little better. I took him off the Robitussin because it really wasn't doing much, and he seems to be improving on his own. The cough is more noisy now, and it sounds like things are breaking up in there. Jackie's humidifier helped a lot (thanks Jackie), so hopefully in a few more days he'll be back to his old self. I can't wait, because sick E is cranky E, and Mommy and Daddy feel awful about it.

This weekend is the big baptism, and I just wanted to post details again for those of you that decided to come. We're excited too, because several friends are coming from out of town and will make the day that much more special. Okay, here goes for Sunday:
12:30 pm Mass at St. George
1:30 pm Baptism immediately following Mass (we still don't know which priest we'll get, it's kind of like playing Russian roulette)
2:15 pm - ? Cake and good fun at Grandpa Feige's house (otherwise known as Big Jer's)
Hope to see you all there.

As for us, the blizzard sounds on Daddy's computer have lulled E to sleep, and we're off to bed ourselves.

Baby's first Easter was a

Baby's first Easter was a fun one, with Ev getting presents and loot as well as getting passed around to the many relatives who haven't seen him, or haven't seen him since we was in the hospital.

Now, though, baby's got a cough and isn't enjoying it very much. He'll cry until he goes into a coughing fit, but the doctor doesn't seem overly concerned, though we are - and we've started him on a Robitussin plan, which has quieted the cough a little but zonks the little guy right out. We're hoping for a quick recovery, and neither of us enjoys seeing him uncomfortable or sick.
